Lebanon: Rehabilitating Historical Housing for Vulnerable Populations

WHFC

With funding from the Lebanon Financing Facility administered by the World Bank, Lebanon’s Housing Rehabilitation and Cultural and Creative Industries Recovery program has two major aims: first, to rehabilitate prioritized historical housing for vulnerable people; and second, to provide emergency support to those in the cultural and creative industries who have been affected by the Beirut Port explosion in 2020. In terms of the housing recovery objectives, this project utilizes US$8.28 million for residential housing rehabilitation and technical assistance for rental support.

The outputs of this program are over thirty building rehabilitations, which will be implemented through NGO support, engineering consultancy, and construction done by local contracting firms. Additionally, a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) will oversee the implementation and use it to inform national strategic discussions on housing.
